Job summary

Babcock International Group in Bristol invites applications for a Marine Structures Engineering Undergraduate Placement Year. You will join the Submarine Support Engineering Structures Group, performing structural assessments, FEA analyses, and platform design tasks to support naval projects.

You’ll gain experience with Ansys, MathCAD and AutoCAD, with tailored mentorship and a clear path to future graduate opportunities, while working on live, high-integrity UK defence programmes.

Qualifications

• Final year student in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Security clearance eligibility (BPSS/SC) may apply.
• UK national eligibility restrictions may apply.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural assessments using hand calculations and FEA.
• Design and evaluate platform structures for explosive shock survivability.
• Conduct platform surveys and validation at Devonport and HM Naval Base Clyde.
• Support technical investigations, feasibility studies and engineering trials.
