Job summary

Babcock offers a Marine Structures Engineering Undergraduate Placement Year in Bristol. You will join the Submarine Support Engineering Structures Group for a full year, performing structural assessments and FE analysis to support naval platforms.

You’ll gain hands-on experience with Ansys, MathCAD and AutoCAD, supported by mentors from experienced engineers. This placement could lead to future opportunities in the graduate programme.

Qualifications

• Final year of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in structural/related engineering fields.
• Security clearance eligibility: BPSS and SC required.
• UK national status may be required by security rules.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural assessments using hand calculations and FEA.
• Design and evaluate platform structures for explosive shock survivability.
• Conduct platform surveys and validation at Devonport and Clyde.
• Support investigations, feasibility studies and engineering trials.

Education

BEng/MEng in Structural Engineering or related field
