Job summary

BAE Systems is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for a six‑month, on‑site contract in Cowes on the Isle of Wight. You will lead software design for naval radar subsystems within a 70‑strong software team, providing guidance and engineering expertise across requirements, design, implementation, testing and verification.

Requirements include extensive experience in a high‑level programming language with Ada95 desirable, UML proficiency, and prior defence or regulated industry exposure.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with at least one high level programming language; Ada95 desirable.

Responsibilities

• Apply experience to design & develop sub-system solutions, resolve engineering issues, and guide others for software products as part of a 70 strong software team within the Products area of BAE Systems
• Provide technical expertise across the software team for the ongoing maintenance of software that is part of the naval radars that are in service with the Royal Navy on multiple platforms
• Provide technical expertise across the software team for the requirements, design, implementation, testing and verification of the software subsystems on Naval radars
