Job summary

Babcock invites engineering undergraduates to participate in a 10-12 week Summer Internship at Rosyth, UK. You'll gain hands-on exposure to marine and naval engineering through real projects, with teams, designers, and managers guiding your progression.

Responsibilities include learning complex systems, conducting analyses, and supporting shipbuilding and maintenance activities across defence programmes, while developing professional behaviours and safety awareness.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a STEM degree in a relevant subject such as mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Interest in defence programmes and naval engineering.
• Willingness to work in a hands-on internship in a defence-related environment.

Responsibilities

• Build knowledge of marine engineering, electrical and mechanical systems, naval architecture, systems design, health and safety, and project management.
• Develop skills in problem-solving, technical analysis, testing and validation, communication, engineering tools and software, collaboration, and technical documentation.
• Develop professional behaviours including professionalism, adaptability, resilience, safety awareness, attention to detail and continuous learning.
• Support shipbuilding, advanced manufacturing and engineering activities, with opportunities to contribute to programmes such as Type 31 Frigate Programme, Missile Tubes Assembly Programme and UK Submarine Dismantling Programme and Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier maintenance activities.
