What you’ll be doing:
  1. Conducting structural analyses using ANSYS Finite Element Analysis software and theoretical methods
  2. Conducting stability analyses using Paramarine naval architecture software
  3. Participating in inclining experiments of naval ships and completing post-experiment analysis
  4. Designing ship modifications and capability upgrades
  5. Undertaking technical analysis for drydocking of ships
  6. Providing expertise for the through-life maintenance and support of ships
  7. Consulting on naval base facilities requiring naval architecture knowledge
  8. Participating in activities including concept upgrade design, detailed design, support to build, delivery, and in-service support for surface ship platforms and naval base facilities
Your skills and experiences:
  1. Qualified to degree level, MEng in Naval Architecture / Marine Technology / Ship Science is essential
  2. Experience with structural analysis using ANSYS Workbench is desirable
  3. Familiarity with naval architectural software, preferably PARAMARINE, is desirable
  4. Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor is desirable

Would you like to help define the future of warship support? We currently have vacancies for Naval Architects at Portsmouth Naval Base.

As a Naval Architect, you will be part of the Design Services Naval Architecture team, providing naval architecture capabilities across various projects and supporting the Royal Navy surface fleet worldwide.

This role offers the chance to work in a critical and challenging environment, with direct involvement with the surface fleet and real-world ship engineering experience.
