Atlas Workplace Services is seeking a National Technical Manager (Electrical) to oversee and drive our electrical safety, compliance, and quality assurance across our national portfolio. This is a home-based role with national travel, serving as the critical link between Atlas Engineering and our diverse client base.

In this senior technical role, you will manage company-wide electrical procedures, lead permit-to-work systems, and support operational teams with expert guidance, training, and compliance processes. Your leadership will ensure that our services meet high regulatory standards—including NICEIC—and that our engineers are competent, authorized, and supported to deliver outstanding work.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Act as the lead for Atlas' Engineering Permit to Work systems nationally, reviewing and approving risk assessments and method statements.
  2. Maintain and manage compliance with all company electrical procedures and relevant legislation, including NICEIC requirements.
  3. Appoint, audit, and support Skilled and/or Competent Persons, ensuring their qualifications and performance meet required standards.
  4. Ensure electrical documentation across all sites is compliant, complete, and properly maintained.
  5. Provide technical training to internal staff and ensure accurate record-keeping of qualifications and development.
  6. Review and approve all technical documentation submitted via self-delivery teams or subcontractors for closure within the CAFM system (Maximo).
  7. Collaborate with operational management to identify cost-effective, compliant engineering solutions across multiple contracts and delivery streams.

About You

Qualifications & Certifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 in relevant electrical trade
  • City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent (Test and Inspect)
  • City & Guilds BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Time-served apprenticeship in electrical discipline
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely
  • ILM Level 3 in Leadership and Management
  • AP12 Low Voltage (LV)
  • AP15 High Voltage (HV)

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 10 years of electrical experience in commercial buildings
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role overseeing electrical installations
  • Strong knowledge of electrical legislation and EAW Regulations (1989)
  • Previous Principal Duty Holder status (NICEIC or equivalent)
  • 5+ years’ experience as an Authorising Engineer
  • Proven High Voltage experience, ideally within NHS, MOD or similar environments
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Proficient in CAFM systems, particularly Maximo

What’s in it for you?

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • The opportunity to lead national compliance across a respected FM provider
  • Work within a collaborative, values-driven organization
  • Full support for CPD and personal development
  • Make a real impact on electrical safety, quality, and service excellence
