Job Description:

Join us, be part of more.

We’re more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers, a team of 21,000 colleagues energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels and living our commitment to positive change in communities. Here, you can find purpose, passion, and potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently — we make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

About your team:

At British Gas, our mission is to sell and mend energy.

With over 200 years of powering UK homes and businesses, we’re also making the UK greener and more energy efficient, moving closer to Net Zero using smart tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels, and EV chargers to help customers reduce their carbon footprint.

Electricity Settlements Manager

Permanent, full-time or part-time

Location:

Our Flexible First working arrangements allow you to work mainly from home with occasional days in an office. We’re open to flexible hours to suit your lifestyle and needs.

About your role:

The Electricity Settlements Manager ensures British Gas meets its settlement obligations within the domestic electricity market, overseeing processes for compliance with the Balancing and Settlement Code, and verifying energy volume attribution accuracy.

This role involves leading onshore and offshore teams to align data, resolve exceptions, and maintain operational excellence. It offers opportunities to develop technical skills, recover significant costs, and travel overseas to visit offshore teams.

Your key daily duties:
  • Meet settlement performance targets across the domestic portfolio.
  • Manage relationships with Elexon, ensuring performance plans are followed and milestones achieved.
  • Ensure compliance with the BSC, demonstrating this during audits.
  • Lead and develop a team of Data Analysts to improve settlement performance and reduce imbalance exposure.
  • Oversee the Elective Half-Hourly portfolio for accurate billing.
  • Maintain accurate Estimated Annual Consumption (EAC) values.
  • Manage meter read rejections, failed reads, and industry exceptions.
  • Collaborate with operational and product teams to mitigate impacts on settlement and imbalance.
  • Manage outsource partners and third-party strategic partners to optimize settlement benefits.
  • Support understanding and implementation of industry changes like MHHS.
  • Proactively monitor industry developments to ensure compliance and efficiency.
What we’re looking for:

Leadership with knowledge of electricity settlements, preferably in the residential market, with strong industry expertise. Experience managing analyst teams, stakeholder management skills, and the ability to work independently are essential. Technical knowledge is advantageous but can be developed in this role.
