Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is helping a Reading-based secondary academy seek a Music Teacher to join the Expressive Arts faculty for an ASAP start. The role covers practical and theoretical Music for KS3- KS5, with potential A-Level delivery and involvement in extra-curricular ensembles.

You will work closely with peripatetic tutors, manage keyboard skills, software-based composition, vocal work, and live music evaluation, while driving student progression and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or UK teaching credentials (PGCE/SCITT)
• Honours degree in Music, Music Performance, or Music Technology
• Strong practical musical skills and software literacy
• Active enhanced DBS check (Update Service) or willingness to apply

Responsibilities

• Teach practical and theoretical Music across KS3, KS4, and KS5
• Direct and assist with ensembles, choirs, bands, concerts
• Guide GCSE and A-Level pupils through composition and performance tasks
• Maintain music rooms, equipment and inventories
• Assess and report student progress across performance and coursework
• Fulfill pastoral duties as a Form Tutor
