Job summary

A vibrant secondary academy in Southampton is seeking a talented and versatile Music Teacher to join its Expressive Arts faculty for an immediate start.

You will deliver high-quality practical and theoretical Music lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE Music / Vocational Music Practice), with potential Key Stage 5 A-Level Music / Music Technology teaching for a suitably qualified candidate.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or UK teaching credentials (PGCE/SCITT)
• Honours degree in Music, Music Performance, Music Technology, or related discipline
• Strong practical musical skills (keyboard/piano highly advantageous) and software literacy
• Active enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Responsibilities

• Teach engaging Music lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE / Vocational Music)
• Guide pupils through composition tasks using school equipment and digital software (Logic Pro, Sibelius, GarageBand)
• Direct and assist with extra-curricular ensembles, choirs, bands, and seasonal school concerts
• Assess, track, and report on pupil progress across practical performance, coursework, and listening exams
• Maintain classroom instruments, practice rooms, and music technology hardware safely
• Serve as a Form Tutor, delivering pastoral care, tracking, and student wellbeing support
