Job summary

Wilson James in London is seeking a vigilant Security Officer on a permanent zero hours contract. You will monitor premises, patrol regularly, respond to incidents, and enforce security protocols to protect staff, visitors, and assets.

The role requires an active DS SIA Licence, excellent communication, and the ability to stay calm under pressure across flexible shifts, including nights and weekends. Training and support are provided.

Responsibilities

• Greet staff and visitors, maintain a safe, professional environment.
• Conduct regular patrols and monitor premises to prevent unauthorised access, theft, or vandalism.
• Monitor access points and CCTV, and follow security procedures.
• Respond quickly to alarms and incidents; take appropriate action.
• Complete detailed reports on daily activities and incidents.
• Assist in emergencies including evacuations and first aid if needed.
• Adapt to different client sites and teams.
• Work as part of a diverse, supportive team.

About the Role

As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for:

• Welcoming staff and visitors and creating a safe, professional atmosphere
• Conducting regular patrols and monitor premises to prevent unauthorised access, theft, or vandalism.
• Monitoring access points, CCTV, and handling security procedures
• Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, taking appropriate action as needed.
• Complete detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and any security concerns.
• Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations and first aid support if required.
• Adapting to different client sites - no two days are the same
• Responding calmly and confidently to incidents or concerns
• Working as part of a diverse, supportive team

What we are looking for

• To hold a current DS SIA Licence
• Proven experience in a customer service position.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, visitors, and authorities.
• Ability to remain calm and act decisively in high-pressure situations.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
