Job summary

Reading Museum, run by Reading Borough Council, is seeking an Assistant Learning Officer for the Learning Team. The role is permanent and part-time (four days a week), with work mainly delivering school sessions, tours, loan boxes and bookings, plus supporting volunteers and casual staff.

You will also handle enquiries, collect performance data, and assist with budgeting, promotions via social media, and outreach to schools and communities.

Qualifications

• Experience in a museum, heritage, learning or education setting.
• Experience delivering activities, workshops or learning for children, young people and adults.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day running of learning sessions, tours, activities, loan boxes and memory boxes.
• Handle customer enquiries and bookings on computerised systems.
• Collect and record performance data, statistics and service evaluations.
• Help recruit, coordinate and supervise volunteers.
• Support schools and teachers in using museum learning resources.
• Help develop new learning opportunities and widen access to collections.
• Support marketing and promotion through social media, digital learning platforms and the museum blog.
• Assist with budgeting, income monitoring and administrative processes.
• Support events, outreach and community partnerships.
