Job summary

National Museums in Birmingham is seeking an exhibitions technician to fabricate and install exhibitions and to support across the museum's sites. You will bring exhibitions to life through hands-on fabrication, AV lighting control and programming.

The role requires experience with different materials, working in a team and independently, and the ability to work at height with hand tools and workshop activities. Some shifts may occur when the museum is closed to the public.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a similar environment.
  • Experience using different materials.
  • Evidence of using audio-visual equipment.
  • Ability to work within a team as well as independently.
  • Applicants should be able to work at height and be competent with hand tools and workshop activities.
  • Able to work flexible hours & days, some exhibitions require installations when museum is shut to the public.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibition fabrication and installation
  • Audio-visual installation and lighting control and programming
  • Safely moving and handling collection items within the museum
  • Team working and collaborating across departments on complex projects
  • Working safely and responsibly to achieve project goals
  • Formulating creative design solutions as needs arise
