Job summary

Nottingham City Council is seeking a Multiskilled Plumber to join our housing maintenance team on a permanent basis. The role focuses on delivering quality plumbing work across rented housing, improving tenant satisfaction and ensuring statutory standards are met.

You will support asset maintenance, perform repairs, and use various trades to achieve first-time fixes where appropriate. A full UK driving licence is required and the role offers a competitive salary and employee benefits.

Qualifications

  • Qualified, certified and trained in plumbing with experience across repairs, maintenance and new builds.
  • Qualified and trained in a second trade (joinery, plastering or bricklaying).
  • Ability to safely use power tools and plant, following all safety procedures.
  • Experience carrying out investigations to identify faults and root causes.
  • Demonstrates an organised but flexible approach and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence.

Role: Multiskilled Plumber


Contract Type: Permanent


Working Hours: 37 hours per week - You will be required to work these hours in accordance with the needs and requirements of the service, between the hours of 6am and 8pm Monday to Friday


Worker Type: Off‑site worker


Salary: Grade H - starting salary of £42,123 (level 1), rising to £45,529 (level 4) per annum

About the Role

As an experienced Multiskilled Plumber, you will contribute to the provision of good quality rented housing, and the achievement of high levels of tenant satisfaction, improving the landlord and tenant relationships, and protecting health and safety.


You will support the maintenance of assets to meet statutory minimum standards for housing, installation, repair, and maintenance obligations.


You will be working with a wider range of customers and stakeholders and providing excellent customer service.


About You

The ideal candidate will have:



  1. Experience in all aspects of a Plumbing and be qualified, certified & trained in a second trade (Suitable trades include: Joinery, Plastering, and Bricklaying)

  2. Experience in repairs, new build, maintenance, or contract environments, including assessing and inspecting jobs, and updating records.

  3. The ability to use the necessary power tools and plant safely, as well as the ability to follow all safety procedures on and off-site.

  4. Experience of carrying out investigations and tests to identify faults and the root cause of issues, and implement lasting solutions.

  5. Ability to use elements of the skills of other general trades to meet the target of first-time fix where it is efficient and appropriate to do so.

  6. Ability to demonstrate an organised but flexible approach, and the ability to meet deadlines
