Job summary

First Choice Staff is recruiting for a Multiskilled Operative (360 & Shovel Operator) near Heathrow. You will operate 360 excavators and shovels, feed the shredder, and support SRF/waste handling on a busy site. Shifts include days and nights, with some weekend work possible.

You will perform daily checks, ensure safety, and assist with vehicle unloading and maintaining a clean, compliant plant environment. Experience and valid operator cards are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have experience operating 360 excavators and/or shovels.
• Valid plant operator card (CPCS or NPORS) preferred.
• Good health & safety awareness and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Feed materials into the shredder evenly and keep tipping hall tidy.
• Monitor SRF/waste handling and ensure contamination-free operations.
• Carry out daily machine checks and refuel as needed, including AdBlue and oils.
• Carry out fire watch duties and report safety issues; support other site tasks as required.

Multiskilled Operative (360 & Shovel Operator)

Shifts: Monday - Friday

Day Shift: 06:00 - 17:00

Night Shift: 17:00 - 04:00

Some weekend work may be required

Pay Rate: Competitive - dependent on experience and qualifications

The Role

Our client, based close to Heathrow, is looking for experienced 360 & Shovel Operators to join their busy operation.

You'll be responsible for handling SRF and waste materials safely and efficiently, supporting the shredder, keeping the plant clean, monitoring material quality, and carrying out fire and safety checks.

Competitive rates are available for the right candidates, depending on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

Material Handling

• Feed materials into the shredder evenly
• Remove bulky or unsuitable items before processing
• Keep the tipping hall tidy and support quick vehicle unloading
• Report any shredder issues or blockages

SRF Operations

• Keep conveyors clear and materials contamination-free
• Load the correct SRF type into the appropriate trailers
• Inspect and clean trailers before and after loading
• Communicate with weighbridge staff to ensure accuracy

Machine Care & Safety

• Complete daily checks on the 360 and shovel
• Refuel and top up AdBlue and oils
• Grease and clean machines at the end of each shift
• Report any faults or safety issues
• Carry out fire watch duties and respond to incidents

General Duties

• Operate other machinery where appropriately certified
• Support other site tasks when plant is not in use
• Take part in the weekend loading rota when required

What You'll Need

• Physically fit and health & safety aware
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
