Job summary

Multi Trades Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Loading Shovel Driver for an energy & waste processing site. The role is site-based with a 4 days on / 4 days off pattern and day/night shifts.

You will operate loading shovels, support biomass fuel handling, and ensure safe, efficient site operations. The ideal candidate has proven shovel experience, relevant plant qualifications, a full UK driving licence, and reliable, flexible work ethic.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating a Loading Shovel.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• NPORS, CPCS or equivalent plant qualification preferred.
• Own transport.
• Willing to work a rotating day/night shift.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Loading Shovel and other mobile plant across the site.
• Maintain biomass fuel levels within the fuel hall.
• Manage vehicle movements throughout the fuel yard and weighbridge.
• Complete daily pre-start and safety checks.
• Report any plant defects or issues to the Shift Team Leader.
• Carry out routine plant maintenance, including greasing and cleaning.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards across the plant, fuel yard and weighbridge.
• Carry out thorough handovers to the incoming Loading Shovel Driver.

Multi Trades Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Loading Shovel Driver to join a well-established energy and waste processing site on a long-term basis.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced plant operator looking for consistent work within a busy, safety-focused environment.

Job Details

Position: Loading Shovel Driver

Location: Site-based

Start Date: ASAP

Shift Pattern: 4 days on / 4 days off

Day Shift: 06 00

Night Shift: 18 00

Pay Rate: Competitive dependent on experience

The Role

As a Loading Shovel Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of mobile plant across the site. You will play an important role in maintaining biomass fuel levels, supporting vehicle movements and ensuring the fuel yard and surrounding areas are kept clean, safe and operational.

Key Responsibilities

Safely operate Loading Shovel and other mobile plant

Manage and maintain biomass fuel levels within the fuel hall

Safely manage vehicle movements throughout the fuel yard and weighbridge

Complete daily pre-start and safety checks

Report any plant defects or issues to the Shift Team Leader

Carry out routine plant maintenance, including greasing and cleaning

Maintain high housekeeping standards across the plant, fuel yard and weighbridge

Empty tipper skips and dust bags as required

Take and accurately record fuel samples

Refuel site vehicles when required

Immediately report defects, damage, near misses and Health & Safety concerns

Complete accurate site documentation and records

Carry out thorough handovers to the incoming Loading Shovel Driver

Work in accordance with all company Health & Safety and environmental procedures

About You

We are looking for a reliable and experienced Loading Shovel Driver who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of operating safely within a busy industrial environment.

Essential Requirements:

• Proven experience operating a Loading Shovel
• NPORS, CPCS or equivalent plant qualification preferred
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Own transport
• Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures
• Ability to complete paperwork and site documentation accurately
• Reliable, punctual and willing to work a rotating day/night shift pattern

Desirable Experience:

• Counterbalance Forklift experience
• Telehandler experience
• Experience loading/unloading HGV vehicles
• Previous experience within waste, recycling, biomass, energy or industrial environments
