Job summary

STEPS Rehabilitation, a residential neurorehabilitation centre, seeks a multi-skilled maintenance technician to cover planned and reactive maintenance across occupied client areas. You will handle hydrotherapy pool plant, building controls and refurbishment projects, collaborating with a small team and liaising with clients and families.

The role requires a trade qualification or equivalent experience, with a focus on safe practices, problem-solving and independence while maintaining sensitivity

Qualifications

• Recognised construction or maintenance trade qualification (e.g. joinery, plumbing, electrical, general building) at NVQ or City & Guilds Level 2, or equivalent experience
• Experience in building maintenance or construction environment
• Experience working with multiple trades
• Safe use of hand and power tools

Responsibilities

• Conduct planned preventative maintenance including fire alarm testing, fire door inspections, water hygiene checks, equipment and vehicle checks
• Test hydrotherapy pool water quality, monitor chemicals, maintain filtration and plant
• Maintain building systems: heating, ventilation, air conditioning, mechanical plant and BMS
• Perform reactive maintenance and fault-finding across buildings and equipment
• Maintain profiling beds, hoists and passenger lifts and manage emergency lift release after training
• Engage in projects/refurbishments including shopfitting and kitchen fitting
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers, arrange visits and follow issues to resolution
• Manage work orders in MaintainX and keep records up to date
• Service company vehicles and arrange MOTs
• Grounds maintenance, waste management, snow clearing, seasonal work and events support
• Daily checks in occupied bedrooms while respecting client privacy and dignity
• Communicate effectively with clients, families and the wider team
