Job summary

Shift Engineer role based in Birmingham is a hands-on, multi-skilled position supporting production equipment, plant services and site improvement projects. You will diagnose faults and carry out both planned and reactive maintenance.

Continental 4 on 4 off shifts (2x12 hour days and 2x12 hour nights) averaging 42 hours per week. You will read diagrams, use CMMS, and coordinate contractors to keep systems safe and compliant.

Qualifications

• Hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance experience.
• Experience with heavy motorised and hydraulic plant, steam, boilers or high-pressure systems.
• Ability to read electrical or fluid control diagrams; CMMS experience.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults to keep equipment running safely.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on production equipment and plant services.
• Work with heavy motorised and hydraulic plant, steam generation, boilers and high-pressure systems.
• Identify recurring faults and deliver improvements to reduce downtime, energy use and waste.
• Support installations, statutory inspections and factory start-up/shutdown activities.
• Complete permits, risk assessments, CMMS work orders and shift handovers.
• Coordinate contractors where required and help maintain critical spares.
