Job summary

NHBC is seeking a multi-skilled Technician for its Apprenticeship Training Hub in Lichfield. You will use your trade experience to support apprentices, prepare training spaces, and guide learners through practical tasks.

The role combines hands-on training with supervision and safeguarding responsibilities. Based at NHBC’s Learning Hub, you will contribute to maintaining equipment, materials and health and safety standards, while organising stock and mentoring learners as needed.

Qualifications

• Solid experience working within the housebuilding or construction industry.
• Confident using and maintaining tools and equipment safely.
• Organised, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Level 2 qualification (or higher) in a related trade, plus a full driving licence.
• Desirable: mentoring or training others.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain training areas with materials and tools ready.
• Assist in practical demonstrations and support apprentices.
• Independently lead hands-on training when senior trainers are delivering classroom sessions.
• Build and maintain example structures for learners to follow during practical training.
• Ensure all equipment, materials and work areas meet health and safety standards.
• Keep the training hub tidy, safe and well organised, including stock management and ordering materials.
• Record apprentice progress and support assessments where required.
• Act as a First Aider and Fire Marshal, maintaining safe working conditions across the hub.
• Prepare classrooms and practical areas for exams, other training and presentations.
• Undertake any further duties in support of other training activities.
