Job summary

Michael Page is recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Engineer and team lead to oversee a highly automated production facility. You will lead the engineering team, supervise reactive and planned maintenance, and drive improvements to reduce downtime and boost overall equipment effectiveness.

The role requires electrical or mechanical engineering qualifications and a strong fault-finding ability across systems. Flexibility for shifts, including weekends, is expected.

Qualifications

• Must have electrical or mechanical engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment (food industry desirable).
• Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of PLCs, sensors, motors, and control systems.
• Proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Flexible to work shifts, including weekends where required.

Responsibilities

Our client is an international, leading manufacturer within the food production sector, currently seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer and team lead to join their growing engineering team at a highly automated production facility.

Description

• Lead and motivate the engineering team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment to minimise downtime.
• Implement and monitor preventative maintenance programmes to enhance equipment reliability.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards across all engineering activities.
• Coordinate with production teams to address technical challenges and optimise processes.
• Manage budgets and resources to achieve engineering objectives effectively.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.
• Prepare and present reports on engineering performance and project progress.

Electrical experience required:

• Sensors (fixing)
• Motor swaps
• PLC experience (programming not required) PLC interrogation & modification required
• Fault investigation (up to PLC level)
• Inverter drives
• 3phase - installation & maintenance
• Fault finding

Mechanical experience required:

• Bearings and pneumatics
• Conveyors (fixes and mends)
• Fabrication e.g. making brackets/ repairs

Will be working on machinery such as:

• Robots
• Conveyors
• Mincers & Grinders
• (Not much with hydraulics)

Profile

The successful applicant will have:

Job Offer

• Competitive salary range from 50,000 to 56,000 per annum.
• Shifts Mon to Fri: 8am - 4pm
