Job summary

Swansea Bay University Health Board is recruiting for a Phlebotomy role across multiple sites in the Swansea area. You will collect blood samples by venepuncture, work across hospital wards, clinics and community settings, and provide compassionate care to patients.

Flexibility to travel between Morriston, Singleton, Neath Port Talbot Hospitals, and other sites is required, including weekend and bank holiday shifts. Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE level or equivalent (Essential)
• Evidence of maintaining personal development (Essential)
• Vocational qualification in a healthcare related subject (Desirable)
• Basic First aid qualification (Desirable)
• Experience in Phlebotomy (Essential)
• Working with public/patients (Essential)
• Full awareness and understanding of health and safety protocols applicable to Phlebotomy including infection control (Desirable)

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples by venepuncture from patients in a supervised environment.
• Communicate effectively with all members of staff and patients, whilst being sensitive to patients' needs.
• Learn all Phlebotomy skills to enable accurate collection of blood samples.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas.
• Work accurately and safely under pressure.
• Visit GP Surgeries and outlying Hospitals, and perform venepuncture in inpatients.
• Work weekend, bank holiday and evening shifts.
