Job summary

Altos Labs UK Limited in Cambridge is seeking a Research Associate I/II to operate a state-of-the-art multiomics hub. You will manage genomics workflows, assist with sequencing platforms, and contribute to study design and data generation in a dynamic team.

The role involves hands-on library prep, DNA/RNA extraction, and instrument maintenance, with opportunities to contribute to tool development and collaborations across a global research community.

Qualifications

• Experience in genomics laboratory workflows and core facility operations.
• Hands-on knowledge of library prep and sequencing technologies.
• Ability to design and optimize single cell experiments and workflows.
• Experience with DNA/RNA extraction methods and measurement techniques.
• Familiarity with automation and LIMS in a genomics context.

Responsibilities

• Support operation of a state-of-the-art multiomics facility focusing on Illumina and Nanopore sequencing.
• Provide technical assistance on sequencers, automation, and common molecular biology techniques.
• Advise on experimental design for single cell workflows and scheduling.
• Maintain hub instrumentation including sequencers, single cell isolation, lab automation, qPCR and QC equipment.
• Liaise with vendors, purchase consumables, and manage lab stock.
• Write SOPs and risk assessments; maintain electronic lab notebook records.
• Contribute to writing and dissemination of research results; collaborate with global team.
• Communicate workflows and new ideas effectively within the team.
