Job summary

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a state registered Biomedical Scientist to join the Multidisciplinary Blood Science Spoke Laboratory at QEHKL. The role covers Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry within a cutting-edge laboratory environment.

You will work as part of a vibrant team with emphasis on education, development, and adhering to ISO standards and quality audits, contributing to high-quality patient care across the EPA network.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills to explain complex test information to clinical staff and patients.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary laboratory environment and to learn new procedures.
• Good technical proficiency with laboratory equipment and data systems.

Responsibilities

• Communicate complex service-related test information to managers, consultants, nurses, other health care colleagues, patients and patient carers.
• Assist in managing and maintaining specialised databases in laboratory computer systems and patient storage databases.
• Use research & development protocols to provide statistical presentations of internal quality control to assess equipment performance in line with QC rules (e.g. Westgard).
• Assist in the education and training of Medical staff, Clinical Scientists, other BMS, Trainee BMS, MLA's and visiting students as required within their specialised area.
• Provide safety supervision & training for junior staff and promote safe working practices in all areas of the laboratory service.
