Job summary

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a multidisciplinary Blood Science post within the Eastern Pathology Alliance laboratory at Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn. The role covers quality control, data management, and teaching across haematology, transfusion and biochemistry.

HCPC registered or in progress, with training across multiple disciplines. Willingness to work at other alliance sites is welcome; visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent.
• HCPC state registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
• Knowledge of laboratory computers, audits, SOPs, ISO standards and quality.
• Understanding of basic clinical analyser performance evaluation, including complex instrumentation.
• Working knowledge of the assays performed in the service.

Responsibilities

• Communicate complex test information to managers, consultants, nurses, colleagues, patients and carers.
• Manage and maintain specialised databases in laboratory computer systems and patient storage databases.
• Present internal quality control data using R&D protocols and assess equipment performance against QC rules.
• Educate and train medical staff, clinical scientists, BMS, trainee BMS, MLAs and visiting students.
• Provide safety supervision and promote safe working practices across the laboratory.
• Support a high quality, safe healthcare service and act as a role model in all work.
