Job summary

Sanctuary Maintenance Contractors Limited, based in Salisbury, is seeking a Multi-Trade Operative with strong plumbing as a primary trade and experience across carpentry, painting, bricklaying, and general maintenance. The role covers sites across Hampshire with a company van and power tools provided.

The position is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Salary is £35,579–£37,452 per year, with benefits including a pension, life assurance and wellbeing support. Closing date 14 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Must have NVQ Level 2 in a core subject (carpentry, electrical).
• If Plumbing Level 3 is required, Unvented - G3 Certificate and Water Regulations (WRAS).
• Recent experience in social housing is advantageous.
• Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks.
• Additional skills in plumbing, carpentry and plastering.
• Working knowledge of health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Carry out construction, fault fixing and maintenance duties in line with contract specifications.
• Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and restocked when needed.
• Respond to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery and resolve or initiate resolution.
• Provide accurate and timely information on progress of works.
• Participate in an emergency call out rota (~1 in 13/14 weeks).

Salisbury based - Covering BA & SP postcodes - Other Area Coverage could be required from time to time.

£35,579 - £37,452per year

40 hours per week-Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day

We have an opportunity for a Multi-Trade Operative to join our team, covering different sites across Hampshire. In this role you will be working as part of a team with some lone working also required. These works are Day to Day reactive maintenance on our properties and duties include carpentry, painting and decorating, bricklaying, plumbing and general maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a strong plumbing background as their primary trade, complemented by experience across a range of multi-trade disciplines.

Due to the nature of the role, a company van will be provided as well as power tools for you to complete jobs to a high standard.

The role of Multi-Trade Operative will include:

• Carrying out construction, fault fixing and maintenance duties in line with contract specifications
• Ensuring tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and restocking these when needed
• Responding positively to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery, by resolving problems or set into motion the means of resolution, ensuring customers are kept informed
• Providing accurate and timely information on the progress of works that is easily understood by the customer
• Emergency call out rota, which will be approximately 1 in every 13/14 weeks.

Skills and experiences:

• To ensure full compliance with Building Safety legislation, candidates applying for this role must be qualified to or undertaking NVQ Level 2 in a core subject (carpentry, electrical. If Plumbing Level 3 is required, Unvented - G3 Certificate and Water Regulations (WRAS). As part of the interview process, candidates will be required to bring with them the original certification verifying proof of their qualifications. Copies and CSCS cards will not be accepted

• Recent experience of undertaking a similar role within social housing is advantageous
• Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks
• Additional skills in some of the following disciplines - plumbing, carpentry and plastering
• Working knowledge of the health and safety regulations
