Job summary

Fortem Repairs and Maintenance is recruiting for a Multi Skilled Trade to service Cambridge Housing Society properties across South Cambridgeshire. Role requires either carpentry or plumbing focus with additional trades such as tiling or flooring.

Core hours are Monday–Friday 8:00–16:30, with a work van, fuel card and power tools provided, plus a generous on-call rota. The post covers social housing repairs across Cambridge Central, Royston, Duxford and Haverhill; travel is essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ/City & Guilds in Carpentry or Plumbing or equivalent
• Full UK driving licence (max 5 points) and no bans
• DBS check required
• Social Housing experience desirable but not essential

Responsibilities

• Carry out either full carpentry and basic plumbing repairs or full plumbing with basic carpentry for social housing properties
• Inform Supervisor when other trades are required
• Collaborate with other operatives to complete projects
• Record data using relevant business systems and devices
• Provide excellent customer service to tenants and clients
• Procure materials for planned works and deliver efficiently
• Comply with safeguarding and health & safety policies

Due to continued successful growth, We have a new permanent opportunity to join our Fortem Repairs and Maintenance team at Cambridge Housing Society as a Multi Skilled Trade which uses either core Carpentry skills, or Plumbing skills and a range of other Multi trade skills which can include, Tiling, Flooring, Windows etc.The Multi Trade will be responsible for most aspects of property maintenance and repairs to Social Housing Properties covering a patch across South Cambridgeshire which include Cambridge Central, Royston, Duxford and Haverhill and surrounding areas so travel is essential.Core Hours are Monday-Friday 8.00am-4.30pm - Work Van, Fuel card, Power Tools provided! + Generous ON CALL rota

The Customer

Cambridge Housing Society is one of our long term partnerships. We are responsible for all repairs and maintenance of their social housing properties which cover the Cambridgeshire region Head office is based in Central Cambridge and the patch includes surrounding areas from Wisbech, Royston and Haverhill.There are nearly 3,000 properties, mostly houses and flats, and we look after a range of work including Repairs, Voids, Cyclical Works and Planned workstreamsWe are currently rated as 4.5 on Glassdoor and 93% of staff would recommend to a friend!

Duties and Responsibilities

• Completing either Full carpentry and basic plumbing repairs work / or Full Plumbing with basic Carpentry for all social housing properties as per the specification, working in a timely and productive manner with specific turnaround deadlines.
• Advising Supervisor in a timely manner when other trades are required.
• Working in partnership with other operatives to complete projects.
• Recording and submitting accurate data using relevant business systems electronic devices.
• Affording excellent customer service to client representatives and tenants.
• Arranging purchase of materials required to deliver the works in a planned and efficient manner.
• Comply with safeguarding policy and H&S standards at all times.
• Operating within the company’s occupational road risk policies and procedures
• Using a PDA smart phone to correspond daily with colleagues to update progress and completion information for your allocated work.

What you will need

• Essential Criteria: NVQ/City & Guilds qualifications or equivalent in Carpentry or Plumbing/ OR Qualified by experience will be considered
• Full UK driving license (Max 5 points) and no recent driving bans
• Must be able to pass basic DBS check
• Desirable but not essential: Social Housing experience
