Job summary

Dovetail and Slate is seeking a proactive Construction Lecturer to join the West Midlands FE team. You will deliver engaging lessons across multi-skills construction, design curricula to meet standards, and support learners through assessment and progression.

The role requires a teaching qualification or commitment to obtain one, a Level 3 Construction qualification, and Level 2 English and Mathematics. A strong CPD mindset and industry awareness are valued.

Qualifications

• Teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed/DET) or willingness to work towards one.
• Minimum Level 3 qualification in a Construction discipline.
• Level 2 qualifications in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
• Proven experience teaching Construction across FE Levels 1–3.

Responsibilities

• Deliver teaching and learning across multi-skills construction courses.
• Contribute to curriculum planning and course development.
• Provide academic and pastoral support to help students succeed.
• Track and monitor student progress across programmes.
• Embed contextualised Functional Skills within the subject area.

Job Title: Lecturer in Construction (Multi-Skills)

Salary: £32,000 to £47,000 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Construction Lecturer to join an experienced department, delivering high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across multi-skills programmes. In this role, you will design and lead engaging, inclusive lessons that meet curriculum standards and reflect current industry practice.

Requirements

• Teaching Qualification: A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, DET) or a willingness to work towards one.
• Subject Qualification: Minimum Level 3 qualification in a relevant Construction discipline.
• Core Skills: Level 2 qualifications in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
• Experience: Proven track record of teaching Construction across Levels 1, 2, and 3 within a Further Education or training environment.
• Development: Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
• Personal Attributes: Strong communication skills, a flexible approach, a solid understanding of current challenges within FE, and a commitment to inspiring learners.
