Job summary

DS Smith in Fordham is seeking a skilled Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer to maintain and improve our fast-paced manufacturing operations, ensuring equipment reliability, site safety, and operational excellence. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance, fault‑finding on mechanical and electrical systems, and work with production teams, OEMs and contractors to minimise downtime.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician
• NVQ Level 3, BTEC, or equivalent engineering qualification
• Experience delivering and managing preventative maintenance programmes
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical and electrical systems
• Experience in fast-paced manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive and reactive maintenance across site assets.
• Ensure equipment compliance with safety legislation, inspections and testing.
• Track and report equipment reliability to identify trends and improvements.
• Lead fault-finding to minimise downtime and improve performance.
• Collaborate with production teams, OEMs, and contractors to resolve issues.
• Maintain critical spare parts inventory levels.
• Support capital projects including installation and commissioning.
• Assist asset lifecycle planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide hands-on technical expertise to support improvements.
