Job summary

Skillmatch Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Multi Skilled Shift Engineer – Electrical Engineer Bias to join a leading facilities management contractor in Birmingham. You will deliver both planned and reactive FM maintenance across electrical systems and associated plant, ensuring reliability and compliance in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate holds BS 7671 18th Edition, can read technical drawings, and is self-motivated, with a proactive approach to safety and problem solving on site.

Qualifications

• Qualified to BS 7671 (18th Edition) in Electrical Installations.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, plant, and controls.
• Ability to read and follow technical drawings and procedures.
• Self-motivated, well-organised, and eager to learn.
• Respectful, professional, and confident in raising safety concerns.

Responsibilities

• Complete electrical installations and assist tradespeople with wiring, calibration, and alignment tasks.
• Carry out testing, fault diagnosis, repairs, and updates to maintenance work orders.
• Maintain, repair, and calibrate electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation plant to optimise reliability and maintainability.
• Follow lockout/tagout procedures—no live working permitted, ensuring a safe working environment.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, attend toolbox talks, and liaise with contractors or external suppliers where required.
