Job summary

SC ENGINEERING is seeking a Multi-Skilled Service, Installation & Commissioning Engineer to install, commission and maintain specialist food processing equipment across the UK and abroad. The role involves hands-on mechanical and electrical work, with travel to customer sites both in the UK and internationally.

The ideal candidate will have a background in service or commissioning engineering, with flexibility for site work, overnight stays, and occasional weekends.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Service Engineer, Installation Engineer, Commissioning Engineer or Maintenance Engineer position.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering knowledge.
• Experience fault-finding, repairing and maintaining industrial machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, service and maintain machinery at customer sites across the UK and overseas.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults with minimal downtime.
• Carry out preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and equipment inspections.

Multi-Skilled Service, Installation & Commissioning Engineer

Location: Great Gransden, Cambridgeshire (UK & International Travel Required)

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: Up to £21.50 per hour (£43,602 basic per annum), depending on experience

Working Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility required for site work.

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Service, Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join a well-established and highly respected manufacturer of specialist food processing equipment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys a varied role, combining mechanical and electrical engineering with travel across the UK and internationally.

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, commissioning, servicing and maintaining specialist food processing machinery at customer sites, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and downtime is kept to a minimum.

Candidates with either an electrical or mechanical bias will be considered, although experience across both disciplines would be advantageous. Full training and development will be provided to strengthen any areas where additional knowledge is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, service and maintain specialist food processing machinery at customer sites throughout the UK and overseas.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults, ensuring minimal disruption to customer operations.
• Carry out preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and equipment inspections.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to customers.
• Assist with machinery repairs, refurbishment and upgrades at the company's manufacturing facility.
• Work closely with production, engineering and aftersales teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality and customer service.
• Produce accurate service reports and communicate effectively with customers and internal teams.
• Work flexible hours when required to support installations, commissioning activities and urgent breakdowns.

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience in a Service Engineer, Installation Engineer, Commissioning Engineer or Maintenance Engineer position.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering knowledge.
• Experience fault-finding, repairing and maintaining industrial machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• A practical, hands‑on approach to engineering and problem-solving.
• Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK and internationally.
• Flexibility to work additional hours, occasional weekends and overnight stays when required.
• Ideally located within approximately 25 miles of Great Gransden, Cambridgeshire.
• Full UK driving licence.
