Job summary

John G Mackintosh is seeking a Multi-Skilled Service Engineer to service and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment across client sites. You will diagnose faults, perform maintenance to a high standard, and ensure all work aligns with safety policies and regulatory requirements.

The role requires a recognised HVAC qualification, F-Gas Cat 1, and 18th Edition. A full UK driving licence is essential to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

Role Overview

As a Multi-Skilled Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the service, planned maintenance, fault-finding and repair of a range of commercial HVAC, refrigeration and associated building services equipment.

You will work across variety of client sites, diagnosing faults efficiently, carrying out repairs and maintenance to a high standard, and ensuring all work is completed safely and professionally.

The Multi-Skilled Service Engineer is responsible for working in accordance with company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and supporting a positive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on commercial HVAC, refrigeration and associated building services equipment.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults and carry out repairs efficiently and effectively.
• Respond to reactive maintenance calls and breakdowns across a variety of client sites.
• Service, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC, refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
• Complete inspections, testing and commissioning activities where required.
• Identify defects, recommend remedial actions and support continuous improvements of building systems.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
• Maintain accurate service records, maintenance reports and associated documentation.
• Communicate professionally with clients, site representatives and colleagues to ensure a high standard of customer service.
• Support compliance with industry regulations, statutory requirements and safe systems of work.
• Demonstrable experience servicing, maintaining and fault-finding commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment;
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills;
• Good understanding of health & safety requirements and safe systems of work;
• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience with air source heat pumps;
• Experience with VRF/VRV systems, chillers and AHUs;
• Knowledge of BMS and HVAC control systems;
• IPAF and PASMA certification;
• CSCS or other relevant site certification;
• Manufacturer-specific training on major HVAC equipment;
• Experience working within commercial buildings, healthcare, education, industrial or construction environments.
