Keys Education is seeking an experienced Caretaker to support a wide range of maintenance tasks and ensure a safe, well-maintained environment for students. The role involves checks on fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and grounds maintenance, with responsibilities spanning carpentry, plumbing, decorating, and managing contractors.

The post requires an organised, pragmatic, solutions-focused individual who can work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

Must be an experienced multiskilled maintenance operative.
Able to work effectively without direct supervision.
Organised, pragmatic and solutions-focused.

Responsibilities

Undertake and record regular checks on fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, playground equipment and legionella risks.
Carry out maintenance duties as directed by the Head Teacher (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, decorating).
Create and manage a rolling decoration program to be completed during school holidays.
Manage contractors on site and monitor safety and quality of their work.
General grounds maintenance including grass cutting and hedge trimming.
Ensure safe pedestrian access and keep paths clear of leaves and moss; gritting and snow clearing during severe weather.
Carry out other reasonable activities as requested by the Head Teacher or Estates Team.
