Job summary

Mears Group is seeking a versatile Multi-Skilled Operative to support a busy responsive repairs contract in Rotherham. You will perform repairs across carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, and more, ensuring homes are safe, functional, and well cared for.

You’ll work in occupied properties, responding to daily repair requests with a strong focus on problem‑solving and customer service. The role offers a permanent full‑time position with a company van and fuel card.

Qualifications

• Proven multi-trade repairs experience across domestic properties.
• Excellent customer service skills in occupied homes.
• Strong health and safety knowledge and safe working practices.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Willingness to participate in out‑of‑hours emergency rota.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day‑to‑day responsive repairs across social housing properties.
• Replace or repair bathroom installations and fixtures.
• Identify and fix minor plumbing issues (leaks, taps, sinks).
• Carry out plastering and wall/ceiling repairs.
• Tile walls and floors, grout and seal.
• Paint and decorate to a high standard after repairs.
• Record job details and materials used using handheld devices.
• Maintain tools and vehicle in good order; meet service level targets.
