Job summary

Mears Group is seeking a multi-skilled operative in Birmingham to perform repairs and maintenance across social housing properties. Tasks cover carpentry, plastering, plumbing, tiling, painting, and general repairs in tenanted homes.

A driving licence is required, and the role offers a company van and fuel card with potential overtime and an out-of-hours rota. The successful candidate will work on a major Birmingham City Council contract, delivering high-quality repairs safely and efficiently

Qualifications

• Proven experience in domestic repairs across multiple trades.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day responsive repairs across tenanted social housing properties.
• Replace or repair skirting boards, architraves, and internal door frames.
• Install and adjust kitchen units, worktops, and cupboard doors.
• Repair or replace internal doors, handles, locks, and hinges.
• Identify and fix minor plumbing issues such as leaks and blocked sinks.
• Carry out patch plastering and make good damaged walls or ceilings.
• Paint and decorate to a professional finish after repairs.
• Record job details and materials used using handheld devices.
