Freightliner Group Ltd is seeking a Multi Skilled Operative in Southampton to support loading/unloading of HGVs, stacking containers and operating lifting equipment within a modern yard. The role involves teamwork, daily use of site systems and adherence to safety protocols.

No prior experience is required for the comprehensive training, with opportunities to develop skills across yard operations and container handling in a busy intermodal environment.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence is essential.
• Understanding health and safety principles and adhering to them.
• Forklift operation experience is a plus but not required.

50 hours per week, with shifts from 6am to 4pm on a rotating schedule from Monday to Friday.

Role

With a new state of art infrastructure and recent investment in Vehicle Booking System (VBS) and technology, we are looking for the right individual to join and support our Operations team in Southampton. As a Multi Skilled Operative, you will be responsible for loading and unloading HGV vehicles in the yard using industry-leading lifting equipment ranging from 2.5 tonnes to 72 tonnes. You will also shunt containers to and from the terminal, operate TUG equipment, work as a team and contribute to a variety of projects. You will utilise bespoke technology to support your daily activities, while sharing our culture where health and safety is the number one priority. The successful candidate will undergo comprehensive training in operating all lifting equipment and utilising internal systems and technology, therefore previous experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate container-handling equipment safely and effectively.
• Communicate with yard team and Terminal Coordinators to ensure efficient operations and the timely availability of the correct containers.
• Maintain highest standards of health and safety at all time.

About you

• Hold a full UK driving licenc.e
• Have a strong understanding of the importance of health and safety and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining safe working practices.
• It’s great, but not required, if you: Have previous forklift operating experience.
• It’s great, but not required, if you: Have experience working within the container or logistics industry.
