Job summary

Freightliner Group Ltd is seeking a Cargo Handler in Southampton to load and unload import/export cargo, using specialist equipment and technology. You will follow strict health and safety rules, perform container inspections, and complete all paperwork accurately to customer specs.

The role requires a current UK driving licence, practical experience with counterbalance forklifts, and a commitment to safe working practices.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

The role

With a new state of art infrastructure and recent investment in Vehicle Booking System (VBS) and technology, we are looking for the right individual to join and support our Cargo team in Southampton. As a Cargo Handler, you will be responsible for loading and unloading import and cargo , in line with customer requirements. You will utilise bespoke technology to support your daily activities, while sharing our culture where health and safety is the number one priority.

Key responsibilities

• Safely secure and handle cargo, including loading export containers and unloading import containers in line with company procedures.
• Carry out thorough inspections of containers prior to export loading and on arrival for import, ensuring they are free from damage and meet customer and company standards.
• Complete all documentation accurately and within required timescales.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and health safety.
• Use tools, machinery and equipment correctly and responsibly, wearing the required PPE at all times.
• Follow all risk assessments and safe systems of work.

About you

• Hold a full UK driving licence
• Have a strong understanding of the importance of health and safety and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining safe working practices
• Have experience operating a counterbalance forklift, acting as a banksman, and using other related equipment
• Have experience loading and unloading cargo
