Tarmac is hiring a Multi Skilled Operative for our Bredbury Asphalt Plant in Stockport. You’ll contribute to daily operations, mixing asphalt to specification, and ensuring quality deliveries while maintaining safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in an industrial, factory or similar environment.
• Shovel Licence desirable.

• Full UK Driving Licence.
• IT literate.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day operations of the plant and ensuring HSEQ performance.
• Mixing asphalt to specification.
• Weighbridge duties and loading shovel operations.
• Assist the Supervisor with meeting daily/weekly production targets.
• Ensure plant safety and environmental compliance.
• Inspections, maintenance, and housekeeping around site.

We are currently recruiting for a Multi Skilled Operative to join our amazing team at our Tarmac Bredbury Asphalt Plant, Stockport. As well as Stockport, this role is easily accessible from Oldham, Bolton, Blackburn, St Helens, Warrington, Chester, Crewe, Stoke on Trent, Macclesfield, Huddersfield and surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager the duties of the Multi Skilled Operative will include the day-to-day operations, as well as delivering best in class Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance for our Plant operations. As a Multi Skilled Operative you will specifically focus on operational tasks including:

• Mixing asphalt to specification
• Working with other members of the team to ensure that customers get good quality material and on-time deliveries
• Weighbridge duties
• Loading shovel (mobile Plant)
• Assisting the Supervisor with meeting daily/weekly production targets
• Ensuring Plant conforms with safety requirements at all times
• Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality responsibilities
• Following Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
• Inspections on the Plant and acting on defects and implement remedial action
• Assisting in the maintenance regime of the Plant
• Ensuring that Plant availability is maximised
• Working to keep housekeeping around site to a high standard

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Multi Skilled Operative will be able to demonstrate proven experience working within an Industrial, Factory or similar environment as an operative or labourer. As well as possessing good communication skills and have a real desire in developing both operative and supervisory skills.

To succeed in this role of Multi Skilled Operative we would expect a candidate to evidence:

• Knowledge of Plant and ideally possess previous experience in mobile Plant operations
• Shovel Licence – desirable
• Be flexible and able to work as part of an effective Multi-Skilled Operative team
• Be self motivated and able to motivate other colleagues in the team
• Good timekeeping – flexible as to the Units requirements
• Good communication skills – bringing problems to the attention of Line Management
• Full UK Driving Licence
• IT Literate
