Job summary

EQUANS are recruiting a Multiskilled Engineer to be based in Belfast. This permanent full-time role offers 37.5 hours per week, with a competitive salary, van and fuel card, and a benefits package.

The successful candidate will support and carry out heating system installations across domestic and light commercial properties, performing multi-trade tasks to ensure high standards and regulatory compliance. Qualifications

• Relevant building services trade.
• Proven experience in heating installations.
• Understanding of system layouts, pipework routing, and building fabric.
• Ability to complete a range of related multi-trade tasks.
• Full UK driving licence.
• CSCS card or equivalent health & safety training (Desirable).
• Asbestos awareness certification (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Support full system upgrades, conversions, and first/second fix heating installations.
• Carry out multi-trade tasks such as making good walls/floors and basic joinery.
• Complete ground works, oil tank bases, and making good.
• Site preparation and post-installation finishing.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality and building regulations.
• Collaborate with heating engineers, electricians, and other trades on-site.
• Complete paperwork and report issues to the supervisor.
• Deliver high-standard customer service and maintain a tidy site.

General Overview

We are seeking a versatile and experienced Multi-Skilled Operative to support and carry out a range of tasks related to heating system installations. This role involves working on domestic or light commercial properties, performing duties that span plumbing, heating, and general building tasks such as basic joinery, making good, and finishing works. You’ll work as part of a team installing heating systems to a high standard, ensuring jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to regulatory requirements.

Key Accountabilities

• Support full system upgrades, conversions, and first/second fix heating installations.
• Perform related multi-trade tasks including:
  • Making good walls, floors, or finishes after installs
  • Basic joinery (boxing in pipework, access panels)
• Ground works, oil tank bases, and making good.
• Carry out site preparation and post-installation finishing where required.
• Ensure all work complies with relevant health & safety, quality, and building regulations.
• Collaborate with heating engineers, electricians, and other trades on-site.
• Complete required paperwork, job sheets, and report any issues or defects to the supervisor.
• Deliver a high standard of customer service and maintain a clean, tidy work area.

Who are we looking for?

Qualifications or Required Experience

Essential

• Relevant building services trade.
• Proven experience in heating installations and associated building works.
• Understanding of system layouts, pipework routing, and building fabric.
• Ability to complete a range of related multi-trade tasks.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

• CSCS card or equivalent health & safety training.
• Asbestos awareness certification.
