Job summary

Lancer Scott in Cardiff is seeking a Building Services Maintenance Technician with carpentry focus to cover from Cardiff to Brecon and Abergavenny. You will handle plasterboard, plumbing, decorating, and client liaison, ensuring work meets required standards and is documented for records.

You should have an NVQ in a trade (ideally carpentry), strong communication, and the ability to work across multiple systems while maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

  • NVQ in a trade (carpentry or similar) or equivalent.
  • Experience in building services maintenance.
  • Strong communication and record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities

  • Install and finish plasterboard, skirting and boxing across various spaces.
  • 1st and 2nd fix plumbing in hospitality spaces and general repairs.
  • Carry out decorating works internally and externally.
  • Order and verify materials with the helpdesk for correct delivery.
  • Liaise with clients and explain issues or challenges clearly.
  • Ensure work meets standards and provide paperwork for records.
  • Update job logs and upload relevant documentation.
  • Support Account Manager and Billing Team with queries to aid invoicing.

What will be my core responsibilities?

You will cover from Cardiff to Brecon and Abergavenny areas carrying out a range of building services work orders, with a focus on carpentry work.

  • Instal and make good plasterboard, skirting and boxing in on a range of different spaces.
  • 1st and 2nd fix plumbing in different hospitality spaces, along with general repairs.
  • Carry out a range of decorating projects both internally and externally.
  • Ensure all required materials are requested and cross check with the helpdesk to make sure they are delivered to the correct address.
  • Purchase additional materials and equipment if necessary.
  • Liaise with the client on any queries and be comfortable explaining any issues/challenges on a job.
  • Confirm each job meets the required standards and provide paperwork for the clients records.
  • Update the job log with notes and upload relevant documentation.
  • Support the Account Manager and Billing Team with query management to aid the invoicing process.
What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?
  • Experience in general Building Services Maintenance work and an NVQ in a trade, ideally carpentry
  • Well developed communication skills and able to work successfully with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to produce clear and professional notes and emails
  • Comfortable working with multiple systems and maintaining accurate records
  • A problem solving mindset, with a practical application
