Department and Overview:

The Machining department is responsible for continually improving the availability of Perkins production equipment. Recent investments in people and equipment have led to a motivated, highly engaged team using modern technology and maintenance techniques.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Fault finding on electrical, controls, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
• Adhere to planned preventative maintenance schedules
• React quickly to breakdowns, liaising effectively with leadership and affected parties
• Coordinate with Production & Engineering departments to ensure equipment availability
• Ensure high equipment availability for internal customers
• Follow safe working practices, create and adhere to risk assessments
• Investigate quality issues related to machines in a structured manner
• Report and document daily issues for handover

Skills and Experience:

Candidates should have gained the following skills and experience:

• NVQ Level 3 / Time served Apprentice or equivalent qualification
• Experience with PLC systems, fault finding, and diagnostics
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic control systems
• Experience with mechanical aspects of machinery (motors, gearboxes, etc.)
• Ability to read electrical, fluid, and mechanical drawings
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently

Additional desirable skills include:

• Experience with conveyor maintenance (drives, clutches, inverters)
• Experience with Siemens S7
• Experience with Fanuc Robots
• Recognized forklift license, MEWP license, driving license
• Experience in a manufacturing environment
