Overview

We now have an excellent opportunity for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias to join our highly regarded repairs and maintenance team in Hertfordshire. This role is based at Hertford Hospital and will provide you with the opportunity to take on some supervisory duties, whilst still maintaining an active role within your trade.

Rydon Maintenance Ltd provides a range of hard facilities management and property maintenance services to a variety of clients, predominantly in domestic property and commercial buildings within the social housing, health, and social care sectors. With offices in London, the South East, Bristol, and Bedford, our experience spans across sensitive healthcare environments. Our expertise ranges from constructing community hospitals to maintaining over 300 buildings for 20 Trusts.

Job Purpose

This Maintenance Electrician role involves a mix of supervisory duties and hands-on multi-skilled repairs. It is a key position that allows you to develop your supervisory skills while remaining actively involved in your trade.

Key duties will include;

• Planned Maintenance: Emergency light testing, fire alarm checks, and scheduled PPM tasks.
• Reactive and remedial electrical work: Fault-finding, repairs for lighting, power issues, replacing lamps, lights, pumps, motors, and conducting 2nd-fix tasks such as sockets and switches.
• Assisting with other trades and general building fabric repairs.
• Supervising subcontractors, conducting inductions, and managing Permits to Work.
• Participating in the call-out rota for out-of-hours support.
• Undertaking workmanship checks and assisting with health & safety audits.
• Managing stock of spares and consumables on site.

Our repairs team delivers first-class services in partnership with NHS Trusts, providing reactive and planned maintenance to NHS buildings, adhering to strict safety and timescale requirements.

Experience Required

• Electrical qualifications and 18th Edition certification; testing and inspection qualification is desirable.
• Experience in a multi-skilled trade role.
• Experience working within the NHS or other commercial properties is considered, but not essential.
• Full UK driving license.

The ideal candidate will have basic Microsoft Office skills, strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and seek a role combining supervisory duties with skilled trade work.
