Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Sherwood in Nottinghamshire is hiring a Maintenance Operative to help provide a safe and healthy environment for people in our care. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, on-site at the Sherwood hospital.

You will join a multi-disciplinary team and perform a broad set of maintenance tasks, including painting, joinery, plumbing and general building work, while ensuring records are accurate and up to date. You may travel to other sites and be on call for emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• Experienced in painting and decorating in indoor and outdoor environments.
• Willing to travel and hold a full valid driving licence.
• Able to communicate at all levels and record maintenance information.
• IT literate.
• Skilled at DIY and general maintenance.
• Preferably Level 2 Diploma in Painting & Decorating/Maintenance.
• Friendly, conscientious and a good team member.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive maintenance & repair service.
• Maintain records and use facilities management portal to coordinate work.
• Book and chaperone contractors when working on site.
• Carry out a range of tasks including basic joinery, plumbing, painting & general building work.
• Maintain plant, services & vehicles in working order.
• Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment & potential hazards.
• Travel to other sites & on occasions be on call to carry out emergency repairs outside of normal working hours.
• Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights.
