Job Role & Key Responsibilities:
We are recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical Bias) to join a busy manufacturing site operating on a fixed 4-on, 4-off shift pattern.You'll be responsible for ensuring production equipment operates safely and efficiently through planned preventative maintenance, rapid breakdown response, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across production machinery and site services.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
- Complete welding and fabrication work as required.
- Perform first-line fault finding on electrical issues where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using a CMMS.
- Complete maintenance documentation, handover reports and work orders.
- Identify opportunities to improve plant reliability, efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety, Food Safety and quality standards.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards within engineering workshops and production areas.
- Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to maximise equipment performance.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- Experience in a mechanical maintenance engineering role within manufacturing, FMCG, food production or a similar industrial environment.
- Strong fault-finding and repair skills on production machinery.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Desirable Skills:
- Engineering apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyor systems or packaging machinery.
- Basic electrical fault-finding experience.
- Experience using a CMMS.
- Previous experience within food manufacturing or other high-volume production environments.
