Job summary

We are seeking an experienced Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our Yeovil site in a fast‑paced, food manufacturing environment. You will help minimise downtime, optimise productivity, and uphold safety standards across the facility while collaborating with a cross‑functional team.

The role requires a Level 3 Engineering Qualification (or equivalent), strong electrical/mechanical hands‑on skills, and proficiency with CMMS and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 3 Engineering Qualification or equivalent apprenticeship.
• Experience in food manufacturing is desirable.
• Strong electrical and mechanical hands‑on skills.

Responsibilities

• Cover breakdowns and changeovers.
• Complete PM routines for plant reliability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to solve technical challenges.
• Complete digital confirmation of work in CMMS.
• Manage time to balance multiple tasks and priorities.
• Be autonomous to improve the workplace while maintaining safety standards.

Position: Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Location: Yeovil (Commutable from Shepton Mallet, Wincanton, Wells, Yeovil, Glastonbury, Chard and surrounding areas)
Shift: Monday - Friday, Double Days (06:00-14:00//14:00 -22:00)
Salary: £50,000 - £52,000

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a busy engineering team within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of the facility helping to minimise downtime and optimise productivity through safety compliance, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment upgrades and, most importantly, collaborating effectively as a team and with all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in covering breakdowns and changeovers
• Complete PM routines to ensure the smooth running of the plant
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve technical challenges
• Complete digital confirmation of work completed (CMMS)
• Manage time effectively to balance multiple tasks and priorities
• Be self-sufficient and make decisions autonomously to improve the workplace
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with food safety standards

What We're Looking For

• Level 3 Engineering Qualification, or an equivalent recognised Engineering apprenticeship
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) - (preferred)
• Strong electrical and mechanical hands‑on engineering skills (No Particular Bias)
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Food manufacturing background - desired
