Job summary

Zest in Yeovil is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to maintain operation of a fast-paced food manufacturing facility. You will cover preventative maintenance, breakdowns, and improvements, with a focus on safety, uptime, and collaboration with production teams.

The role offers a Monday–Friday shift, 06:00–14:00 and 14:00–22:00, with a salary of £50,000–£52,000 per year. Experience with CMMS and electrical/mechanical repair is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Engineering Qualification or equivalent recognised apprenticeship.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) preferred.
• Strong electrical and mechanical hands-on engineering skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in engineering software and tools.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Computer literate (MS Office).
• Food manufacturing background is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in covering breakdowns and changeovers.
• Complete PM routines to ensure smooth plant operation.

• Complete digital confirmation of work via CMMS.

Location: Yeovil (Commutable from Shepton Mallet, Wincanton, Wells, Yeovil, Glastonbury, Chard and surrounding areas)

Shift: Monday - Friday, Double Days (06:00-14:00//14:00 -22:00)

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a busy engineering team within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of the facility helping to minimise downtime and optimise productivity through safety compliance, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment upgrades and, most importantly, collaborating effectively as a team and with all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in covering breakdowns and changeovers


• Complete PM routines to ensure the smooth running of the plant


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve technical challenges


• Complete digital confirmation of work completed (CMMS)


• Manage time effectively to balance multiple tasks and priorities


• Be self-sufficient and make decisions autonomously to improve the workplace


• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with food safety standards

What We're Looking For

• Level 3 Engineering Qualification, or an equivalent recognised Engineering apprenticeship


• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) - (preferred)


• Strong electrical and mechanical hands-on engineering skills (No Particular Bias)


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


• Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools


• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
