Job summary

ZEST (UK) LTD in Yeovil is seeking a skilled Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a fast-paced food manufacturing operation. You will help minimise downtime, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and drive improvements in safety and efficiency.

Key responsibilities include breakdown support, PM routines, cross-functional collaboration, CMMS data entry, and working with the team to meet production goals while upholding food safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must hold Level 3 Engineering qualification or equivalent apprenticeship.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) – preferred.
• Strong electrical and mechanical hands-on skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in engineering software and tools.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience in food manufacturing is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in covering breakdowns and process changeovers.
• Complete PM routines to keep plant running smoothly.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve technical challenges.
• Complete digital confirmation of work (CMMS).
• Manage time to balance multiple tasks and priorities.
• Work autonomously to improve the workplace.
• Ensure all work complies with food safety standards.

Position: Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Location: Yeovil (Commutable from Shepton Mallet, Wincanton, Wells, Yeovil, Glastonbury, Chard and surrounding areas)
Shift: Monday - Friday, Double Days (06:00-14:00//14:00 -22:00)
Salary: £50,000 - £52,000

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a busy engineering team within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of the facility helping to minimise downtime and optimise productivity through safety compliance, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment upgrades and, most importantly, collaborating effectively as a team and with all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in covering breakdowns and changeovers
• Complete PM routines to ensure the smooth running of the plant
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve technical challenges
• Complete digital confirmation of work completed (CMMS)
• Manage time effectively to balance multiple tasks and priorities
• Be self-sufficient and make decisions autonomously to improve the workplace
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with food safety standards

What We're Looking For

• Level 3 Engineering Qualification, or an equivalent recognised Engineering apprenticeship
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) - (preferred)
• Strong electrical and mechanical hands‑on engineering skills (No Particular Bias)
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Food manufacturing background - desired
