Job summary

Proactive Global is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer for a modern production facility in North West London (Wembley). The role offers a £55,000 annual salary, 4 on 4 off days-only shift pattern, and a stable, growing manufacturing environment.

You will maintain production performance, reduce downtime and drive reliability across automated equipment, with training and development opportunities within a long-standing engineering team.

Qualifications

• Completed Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent
• Experience as a Maintenance Engineer in FMCG/food/pharma environments
• Electrically biased with strong electrical and mechanical skills
• Experience with automated production equipment and PLCs

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across manufacturing equipment
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimise production disruption
• Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
• Conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurrence of failures
• Maintain maintenance records using a CMMS
• Work with production teams to maximise equipment availability
• Support machinery upgrades, installations and projects
• Ensure all maintenance follows Health & Safety requirements

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – location: Wembley, North West London. Salary: £55,000 + Benefits. Shift Pattern: 4 On 4 Off (Days Only). Job Type: Permanent.

The Opportunity

A well-established manufacturing business is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team at a modern production facility in North West London. This is an excellent opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer looking to work within a fast-paced, highly automated manufacturing environment where engineering excellence, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement are a core focus. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining production performance, reducing downtime, and driving operational efficiency across the site. Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities across manufacturing equipment


• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults


• Respond effectively to equipment breakdowns and minimise production disruption


• Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives


• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to eliminate recurring failures


• Maintain accurate maintenance records using a CMMS system


• Work closely with production teams to maximise equipment availability


• Support machinery upgrades, installations, and engineering projects


• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in line with Health & Safety requirements

Skills & Experience

• Completed Engineering Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent qualification


• Previous experience working as a Maintenance Engineer within FMCG, food manufacturing, beverage, packaging, pharmaceutical, logistics, or similar production environments


• Electrically biased engineer preferred, although strong multi-skilled engineers with a good balance of electrical and mechanical experience will also be considered


• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills


• Experience working with automated production equipment and PLC-controlled machinery


• Knowledge of conveyors, motors, drives, sensors, pumps, pneumatics, and automation systems


• Experience using SAP PM, Maximo, Pirana, Shire, CMMS, or similar maintenance management systems


• Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced manufacturing operation
