Job summary

Morgan Jones is recruiting on behalf of a confidential client within the food production sector. They are seeking a proactive Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to support the reliability and performance of production machinery and site facilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• Relevant engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC, or HND).
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience of PPM and reactive maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
• Good communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and continuously improve the planned preventative maintenance programme.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
• Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Support machinery installation, upgrades, and commissioning projects.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and engineering reports.
• Manage engineering spare parts inventory.
• Support maintenance budget control activities.
• Work closely with operational teams to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Identify cost-saving and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Manage contractors and ensure compliance with site procedures.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, hygiene, and food safety.
• Contribute to a clean, organised, and safe engineering environment.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Previous engineering experience within a food manufacturing environment
• Relevant engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC, HND or equivalent)
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
• Experience of PPM and reactive maintenance
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
• Good communication and problem-solving abilities

Desirable:

• Fresh produce, FMCG or food manufacturing experience
• PLC fault-finding experience 18th Edition qualification
• Welding or fabrication skills
• Knowledge of BRCGS and HACCP standards
• Experience with conveyors, wrapping equipment, automated handling systems, or grading machinery
