Job summary

Avanti Personnel Limited is recruiting a hands-on Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer for a forward-thinking site in Middlesbrough. You will keep plant machinery running, fault-find across the line, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

This role covers mechanical and electrical maintenance, welding and fabrication, and working to the site's PPM system. The ideal candidate has NVQ3 in Engineering, SAP experience, and strong welding skills.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (or equivalent) required.
• Experience using SAP systems.
• Strong welding and fabrication skills (MIG/TIG/Arc).

Responsibilities

• Work to the site's planned preventative maintenance (PPM) system.
• Respond to breakdowns and fault-finding across the plant.
• Use SCADA systems and change control processes.
• Support external contractors as required.
• Keep maintenance records and compliance documentation up to date.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Carry out hands-on maintenance, welding, and fabrication work.
• Maintain a safe, organised, and efficient working environment.

We’re looking for a hands-on Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join our customer who is a forward thinking organisation based in Middlesbrough.

If you enjoy solving problems, keeping machinery running, improving processes, and getting stuck into practical engineering work — this could be the role for you.

From fault-finding and fabrication to continuous improvement and team support, you’ll be a key part of keeping the site operating safely, efficiently, and reliably.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Working to the sites planned preventative maintenance (PPM) system
• Responding to breakdowns and carrying out fault-finding across the plant
• Using SCADA systems and change control processes
• Supporting external contractors as and when required
• Keeping maintenance records and compliance documentation up to date
• Monitoring equipment performance and identifying opportunities for improvement
• Helping drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Carrying out hands-on maintenance, welding, and fabrication work
• Helping maintain a safe, organised, and efficient working environment

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone practical, proactive, and confident working in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Essential

• NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (or equivalent)
• Experience using SAP systems
• Strong welding and fabrication skills (MIG / TIG / Arc)

Desirable

• IOSH Working Safely
• Siemens SCADA Trends experience
• Multi-skilled engineering background (mechanical & electrical)

Experience That Will Help You Succeed

• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding ability
• Experience with conveyors, handling systems, or process equipment
• Knowledge of SCADA systems and networking
• Understanding of LOTO procedures
• Experience logging maintenance stock and spare parts
• Confident using Microsoft Office and maintenance systems
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
