Job summary

INDWIN is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer in Oldham, Greater Manchester. The role focuses on minimising downtime through proactive and reactive maintenance, covering electrical, mechanical, fabrication, plumbing and pipework across a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

The position requires Apprentice Trained personnel with NVQ Level 3 and offers a Panama shift pattern (7am–7pm / 7pm–7am) with a comprehensive benefits package and clear progression paths.

Qualifications

• Essential: Apprentice Trained and NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Essential: Strong fault-finding background (implied by responsibilities).
• Desirable: Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate; FMCG experience; 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Minimise machinery downtime with production teams and complete preventative maintenance ahead of schedule.
• Perform reactive, planned preventative, and predictive maintenance activities.
• Respond to breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Carry out engineering installations including electrical, mechanical, fabrication, plumbing and pipework.
• Fault find across production and process equipment.
• Produce drawings, measurements and specifications for spare parts.
• Make recommendations and implement improvements to support Continuous Improvement.
• Comply with HACCP and food safety requirements.
• Supervise contractor activity when required.
• Support requests from Engineering Management Team.
• Contribute to KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, downtime and non-conformances.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with production teams to minimise machinery downtime and ensure all preventative maintenance is completed ahead of schedule
• Carry out reactive maintenance, planned preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance activities
• Respond effectively to breakdowns to keep downtime to a minimum
• Complete engineering installations including electrical, mechanical, fabrication, plumbing and pipework
• Fault find across a wide range of production and process equipment
• Produce drawings, measurements and specifications for required spare parts
• Make recommendations and implement improvements to support Continuous Improvement activity
• Comply with all technical, HACCP and food safety requirements
• Supervise contractor activity when required
• Support any reasonable requests from the Engineering Management Team
• Contribute to key KPIs including MTBF, MTTR, accidents, downtime, technical non‑conformances and work requests

Education and Experience

Essential

• Apprentice Trained
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Desirable

• Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate
• FMCG experience
• Strong fault‑finding background
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
