Job summary

Kinetic plc in Blackburn is seeking a highly experienced Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to service and maintain food processing machinery. You'll join a tight team, cover early and late shifts (06:00–14:00 and 14:00–22:00) on a Monday–Friday pattern, with a salary around £52,000 and overtime opportunities.

The role focuses on PPMs, rapid fault resolution, spare parts liaison with the Engineering Manager, and driving continuous improvements while upholding HACCP/COSHH/GMP standards.

Qualifications

• Extensive electrical and mechanical knowledge on food processing machinery.
• Process control knowledge applied to packaging lines.
• Experience building electrical control systems from switchgear to software.
• Engineering apprenticeship with BTEC ONC/HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering.
• Proven FMCG engineering and fault-finding track record.
• HACCP, COSHH and GMP awareness and compliance.
• Demonstrated root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• PLC fault finding experience with industrial controllers.
• CMMS experience and knowledge.
• Able to deploy preventative maintenance strategy for the site.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a small team of multi-disciplined engineers.
• Undertake planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on equipment.
• Repair equipment and record actions to identify recurrent faults.
• Coordinate with Engineering Manager and Senior Engineer for parts.
• Minimise downtime following machine breakdowns site-wide.
• Continually develop your skills and knowledge.
• Comply with health, safety and environmental policies.

Happy doing PPM's and reactive maintenance?

Duties will include;

• Work as part of a small team of multi-disciplined engineers
• Undertake PPM's on equipment
• Action repairs and ensure all measures taken are recorded so recurrent faults can be recognised
• Liaise with the Engineering Manager and Senior Engineer to ensure the supply of appropriate parts
• Minimise the amount of downtime suffered by the site following machine breakdowns
• Continually develop your skills and knowledge
• Comply with all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures

Skills required

• Strong Electrical and Mechanical knowledge and ability on Food processing machinery
• Process control knowledge.
• Competent in building electrical control systems from switchgear through to software implementation.
• Engineering apprenticeship and associated qualifications such as BTEC ONC, HNC, HND in Electrical Engineering is essential
• Have a proven track record in an Engineering and fault-finding role gained from within a FMCG environment.
• Have a good understanding of HACCP, COSHH and GMP principles
• Drive Root Cause Analysis and strive to prevent re-occurrence with counter measures.
• PLC fault finding.
• CMMS experience and knowledge.
• Ability to deploy and execute the preventative maintenance strategy for the site.

Shift - 6-2 / 2-10 shift Monday to Friday
